An expense is three taps: minus on the wallet, the amount, the category. Everything else a transaction can carry — a description, a date, a person, a planned flag — is optional, and the app never asks for any of it before the money is written down.
An expense in three taps
On the Wallets tab, tap − on the wallet the money came from. For an income, tap + on the same card.
Enter the amount.
Tap a category. That tap is what saves the transaction — on this path there is no separate save step.
What else a transaction can carry
None of this is required, and all of it can be added later by editing the transaction.
A description — what the money was actually for, when the category is too broad.
A date other than today, for something you are entering after the fact.
A person, which is what turns an ordinary expense into a shared cost you can find by name.
The Planned flag, for something that has not happened yet. See planned transactions.
The Transfer category instead of a normal one, for money moving between your own wallets. See several currencies.
A debt without going to the Debts tab
On the Wallets tab, tap − on the wallet the money came from.
Enter the amount.
Instead of a category, tap the Lent tile. If you started with +, the same tile reads Borrowed.
Pick the person. The debt appears on the Debts tab, exactly as if you had added it there.
Where the list is
Tap a wallet card and its transactions open. For everything at once, go to the Debts tab → Transactions.
The filter button in the top right narrows the list by wallet, type (expenses, debts and loans, transfers), category, person, date range, currency and direction. The list is also what export follows, so filter first and share second — see backups and export.
Editing, repeating, deleting
Press and hold a transaction in the list and a menu opens. What is in it depends on the transaction.
Apply — in the planned list only. This is how you say the transaction has now actually happened.
Repeat — the same transaction again, dated today. Transfers, debts and planned ones do not offer it: "the same again" would not mean what you expect.
Add category — appears when the category came from a shared wallet and is not in your own list; the action adds it to your list.
Pin as template — so you can add this expense with one tap later.
Delete.
In a wallet shared with you view-only, editing, deleting and Apply are not offered.
Questions
Can I log an expense without choosing a category?
Yes. Enter the amount and tap Done. With nothing selected the expense lands in the Other category, which is the fastest possible entry — a number and two taps.
Why is the amount entered before the category?
Because the category tap saves the transaction, so the amount has to exist by then. Tap a category with no amount entered and the app says so instead of saving an empty expense.
I made a mistake. How do I fix it?
Press and hold the transaction in the list and choose Edit. Everything is editable — amount, category, wallet, date, description, person.
Can I record something that has not happened yet?
Yes, mark it Planned. It stays out of your balance and out of every chart, and sits in the Planned card at the top of the transactions list. When the money really moves, press and hold it and choose Apply — only then does it count.
